Default A-Plan No Claims Bonus query

Took everyones advice and went with A-Plan, they were cheaper than everyone else, 32 6points + missus 28 3 points, 02 wrx totally standard, the quote was £689 which is the best :-) so i paid there and then with credit card

I told A-Plan i had 6years NCD, now when the policy came thru for me to double check, sign and return etc. the quote they have given me was for 9years NCD !!!

What do i do now ? They obviously want to see proof of my NCD, which i will send.

Will this increase the price much ?

Isn't 5 years NCD equals to 65% NCB, so anything over that doesn't make any difference?

Not sure mate, dunno. So is 5years basically the max and anything over that is largely irrelevant ?

I think so, I know some companies offer 70% NCB, but I'm sure you start off with 40%, so after 5 years you get up to 65%, so whether you told them 6 or 9 years is irrelevent ................or I might be wrong

No - I am pretty sure you will be fine. I had something similar with More Than. I said I had maximum no claims which they say is 5 years or more, however when the policy came through it said I had 8 years. I called to query it but they weren't worried as all they wanted to know was what percentage I was entitled to - as I had mximum the figure on the policy was irrelevant.

Good luck

Nick

Hi ...

had the same issue and asked the same question .... A-Plan recognise NCB past 5 years - so my wife now has 9 years NCB (where she actualy had 5 years and 72% with previous insurer) ....

You'll strike out the 9 years NCB, write in the correct number on the proposal form and send proof. They won't mention it again and your quote will remain the same.
