I'm in a similar position, I'm 27 and I'm looking to buy a 2005 WRX.
The problem is I haven't any NCB as upto now I've always been on my dads insurance. Having said that I've been driving for 9 years with no accidents/points.
After having a quick look at some online quotes at Autotrader I was pretty shocked at some of the quotes, to say the least!
What kind of ballpark figure should I be looking at? Basically anything under £1500 would be fine, but any more and I'd have to drop the WRX and look elsewhere!!!!
Anyone under 30 have some examples of the quotes they were offered, particularly without any NCB.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The cheapest I have found so far, in my very limited search (only online quotes at the moment) is £2000 from Elephant!!!!
I assume/hope I will be able to get much better quotes if I actually ring up myself.
Fingers crossed!

Im 29 married with the missus (28) on the car... we both have full NCB which are protected.
On the MY05 STi (Wigan area) we paid £800 with elephant.

Worth having a look at www.confused.com and www.moneysupermarket.com sometimes better to ring and not rely totally on online quote systems.

Try living in Northern Ireland, im 24, 4 years no claims, no points or convictions and its costing me £2800 to insure my my00. If your going to use elephant, use admiral, they are the same company yet admiral allow you to pay monthly.

Just tried Norwich Union, £1600 with no tracker for a 2005 WRX, no NCB, age 27 etc.
If you buy online you get a 29% discount!
Up the excess and the premium is reduced very significantly.

I cant believe some of the premiums you guys are getting charged! I'm in aberdeen and just got my 2001 bugeye uk wrx insured through Bell Direct for £513.34 fully comp with my wife as a named driver. I had a quote from elephant for £518.60 for the same. I'm 31yo, have 10 years no claims, and the car is standard. It has the standard fit alarm and both companies said a tracker was not required, and both said that the difference in my premium with a tracker would be negligible, i would need to keep the car 10 yrs to claim back the installation costs!
Maybe some of you £1000++ guys should move to sunny aberdeen!!!

Ive tried confused, elephant, screentrade, tesco and the no one comes anywhere near direct line and these insurers who search around for you dont get a quote from direct line because they wont play ball with them. powerman
