I think he's too young for L&V. They won't quote for me on a group 20 car. Only up to 17 if you're under 30.

What group is the P1?

Thinking about it i think you have to be 25 with Privilege. They gave me the cheapest quote when i did my insurance earlier in the week by £300 but they wouldn't put my other half on the policy as she's under 25, so i had to go with one of the others.

You might have some luck with this link

http://www.mudd90.freeserve.co.uk/insurance.htm

Or you could try L&V but i think you're going to be too young.

Just because LV can't quote online does not mean they won't quote full stop. You may have to get a tracker installed before a policy quote can be issued. Just ring them and find out. Simple really

L and V won't quote a person under 30 for a group 20 car. They won't even insure you on a group 17 (Classic Turbo) for that matter; you need to be 25. Sorry m8!

I think I'd recommend trying the one's already mentioned above; it will be very expensive though, I'm afriad.

Best.

Have you asked on the P1 owners club website yet?

I am 24 with 2 years NCB and just phoned Tesco for quote on a 1993 Import WRX, the car has a tracker and a Thactham 1 alarm and immobiliser.

and they said that I have to be over 25 to get insured on this car.

I guess this was becasue of it being an import.

www.confused.com

I'm 22 and have given up on getting a scooby, will get one in a few years maybes. Funny though as this time last year I could have got insured on a RB5 WR with a few mods for £1,500-£1,700 FC with either tesco & elephant. Try adding your partner/older family members to your policy, I saved nearly 15% on my current car with my dad on even though he very rarely drives it.

Also IMO scoobs are commanding a much bigger premium over similar performance cars. I can't get insured on a standard UK scooby for much under £3k now but can insure a TVR Griffith 5.0 V8 or E36 M3 Evo for less or a Pulsar GTiR, CTR, ITR, S3, Focus RS, 182, Ibiza/Leon Cupra R for just between £1-1.5k

If you desperately want the P1 can you not get your old man to insure it with you as a named driver?

Don't do a named driver policy: it only hurts you in the long term. I've been behind the wheel since I was 17 (I'm now 27) and on my dad's insurance. When it came to insuring my Scooby, no company- not even the one that provided the named policy- would recognise my driving experience. As a result, I'm now paying £1800! If I'd have had 5yrs no claims would have been more like £700!! When it comes to these types of performance cars, when you're over 21, no claims starts to be weighted more heavily than your age.

Best.

As above.

It might be worth getting a quote with your parents on the policy as named drivers.
