Insurance for a 22yr old wanna be Scooby owner
Hi
I have been reading through some threads here and i'm wondering if anyone out there who is about 22 yrs old and has an Impreza can tell me who insured their car. Footman James quoted £2800 on a £6k '95 WRX no mods. There must be cheaper ones!
Please help.
Rob.
p.s. places like tesco, 1stQuote.com and some others wont do it online

its much harder to insure a japanese import, the insurers seem to be clamping down on anyone under 25 on any type of scoob let alone jap imports. To be fair your lucky they gave you a price at all.

I did try just now but still no joy as they ask you to phone. Reading on here people tell different stories about Tesco so i may just give them a ring. Talking to someone might shed light on the situation.

Hi, just got a quote from Elephant. Standard UK impreza 1996 with CAT1 alarm and they quote £2500 FC...
Has to be FC on an Impreza ... too much to loose

stoneyb,
Your correct its no fair, but....insurance has always been expensive and will always be expensive. Have you not considered a lesser car?
I looked into buying a Scooby 2 years ago and realised there was no way I could afford the car without spending all my salary on it, instead I got a mortgage on a house
I really would wait if you can, you will appreciate it more, honestly.

Yeah, i agree, it does look as though i will be waiting till i'm at least 25. In the meantime, the replacement for my 1.6 petrol 306 will probably be a 306 1.9TD and enjoy cheap economical driving and save!
Thanks for all the comments and i look forward to contributing more in the future.

I'm 23 on 98 STI Type R. £1400 fc. I live in a good area. Phoned them up, they said they couldn't insure me so I kicked up a stink about a quote I recived back in feb. Guy on the phone was quality, went to his supervisor and over rid the system.
Think I was one of the last lucky ones, that was 3 weeks ago.
Tesco BTW
