Thumbs up Churchill for imports and mods, I think

Trying to get quotes for a heavily modified WRX, many didn't want to even quote on a standard car, those that did mods wouldn't cover more than 25% increase in power. But Churchill did both, with 45% increase in power (over 260ps) for £1911, when a sandard car was about £1056 for same details.

I would be interested to hear of other stories, below are some other responses:

Liverpool & Victoria - "Sorry that registration doesn't appear on our system. We are cutting back on imports and modified."

Admiral - "Sorry were not interested in covering those sort of mods"

Tesco - "Please press one for a quote, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

Adrian Flux - "Sorry the imports have become such high risks in the past year."

Alan & Alan (admirals last chance saloon partners!) - "That will be £1750 for the standard car sir".

Still looking for better and I will ask someone else at L&V tomorrow.

they are on my list for tomorrow. But getting any quote at all, even for a standard car is troublesome.

Based on my experiences with LV it would seem that not all their staff sing from the same hymn sheet

Don't be too surprised if you get a different answer tomorrow - if not try and "sweet talk" the telesales guy/girl into referring your case to one of their underwriters as this has been known to work in the past.

But, in fairness to LV, during the last fortnight or so several other SNers have reported similar experiences to your's - so perhaps LV are indeed trying to reduce their exposure.

Still worth a try though! Keep us posted.

I am 29, but in most cases where they weren't interested, the age itself wasn't a problem, in fact in some cases we didn't even get that far!

£1900 is a lot, but for those that are having trouble finding any insurance it may be useful.

I know my car's only a UK Impreza, but it is a little modified now. Just a ScoobyECU thing (my own map based loosely on the old PPP), exhaust and a mild brake upgrade (they're not worried about the brakes, as I still use standard size discs)

I'm with Bell Direct & paying £750. (25, 5 yrs protected NCB) It could be that they won't take on more than a 25% power increase, (meaning I have to fit a 34mm restrictor and get to work on torque increases ) and I didn't ask them about imports. It seems the older imports are getting very difficult to insure now.

(for the record, a Honda S2000 or TVR Griffith 500 would cost me approx £200 LESS than the Impreza to insure. Not good when you consider these are both group 20.)

Keith Micheals, £1695 no tracker required, would be cheaper after 12 months ownership.

It's coming down, slowly.
