PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
Hi people. Im 23yrs of age and ive just bought a standard 93 wrx. I seem to be having mega problems insuring it. Am i totally wasting my time or can anyone recomend a decent insurer. Ive got 5yrs no claims and live in a decent postal area. I tried shed loads of insurers but 90% wont cover. The few that do want silly money(and i mean silly money!) Can anyone help or it looks like im gonna have to sell it.

Norwich union did a 94 WRX for me @ 26 years old with 3 years NCB and a reasonable postcode and they came in at £411 a year

Thanks alot for replies guys. Norwich Union wouldnt quote me im afraid. I must have tried around 30 companies now. The best quote ive got is £1550 tpft which is too much in my opinion. That was with Endsleigh. The reason i bought the car was because Tesco gave me an online quote for £850. When i bought the car and tried to take out the policy they said i had to be 25 or over. To say i was p*ssed off would be an understatement! I previosly owned a Calibra Turbo which i insured for £600. This car was not worth quite as much as the Scoob but still really high on the insurance group. As soon as i pick up the phone and say "aged 23,import, and the magic words Impreza i jus get my a*s raped. Things aint looking good at the mo!! I REALLY REALLY dont want to sell it but with bills and a mortgage to pay ive got to be sensible.

When I was 24 (last year) with 5 yrs NCB I went with Keith Michaels PLC, they've been around for years. I have noticed this year that alot of insurers are making it tougher to get insurance etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but with Tesco, once you have a quote you can book the policy on-line? Therefore, this is not an estimate but an official quote which you are entitled to the policy. If you purchased the vehicle based on this quote you are entitled to the policy or compensation, assuming you can prove you actually had a quote etc.

Thanks eva so much for all your replies but i just cant get a decent quote so im gonna sell it. I might go out and buy myself an Austin Princess. I think the insurance should be more within my budget. Insurancing my cars hasnt been an issue for me until i bought the Impreza. The insurance companies really dont like these cars. Looks like im gonna have to wait until im 25 and out of my nappies. Thats the way it seems to me. 90% wont even quote under this age and others even 30 yrs of age. Oh well sh*t appens!!!!!!!!! Thanks anyway guys

i tried keith michaels(0845 1204643) my insurance was high for the first year because most scoobies are crashed within the first year so if you prove you can drive it ie.no claims it will go down.mine went down by 40% and no traker was needed and it was parked on my drive.if you get a quote from them what ever the quote is say that you have been quoted cheaper(£70-100) and they will normally match it.
dont give up yet they are excellent cars you will regret selling it

Yep Tesco do want you to be 25 and have a tracker fitted which they also dont tell you
And yes Keith Michaels are worth a bet My old sccob was a grand first time round and £800 the next year, but i got a quote from Adrian Flux for £620
Youll find the numbers if u want to keep the motor.

Believe it or not, I got insured last week on a 97 WRX Sti Version3 Import, fully comp, for £1900.
Alot of cash? Yes. But I am only 23 with 1year NCB. That was with Admiral. Tel no. 0800 600 800.

Good news. Ive decided to keep the car as ive got a quote for £1200 through Bell Direct. Alot more than i wanted to pay but i really didnt want to sell. This is my best quote out of around 30 insurance companies so if anyones in a similar situation give them a call. I WOULD JUST LIKE THE TIME TO SAY YET AGAIN TESCO'S ARE W*NKE#S. Thanks ever so much for your help guys.

ive been getting quotes too and yes Tesco's are w**kers.
Im 24, 1yrs ncb and they are quoting mad prices even though i been with them for years.
Yes i had an accident 2 yrs ago(not my fault), but its BEEN 2yrs.
Ive owned GTI-Rs and 200sx's and they are now over the top.
Well even having performance car experiance dont help.
So much for cheaper car insurance.
I think all insurance companies are thieving w**kers
I dont condone not having insurance but you can see why young people dont.
Good luck though
