(Topic should have been called NUnion/Direct Pants) Living in west london, £1200 with no mods, but looking at an extra £100 a month for my new ex/system?! got to be taking the mick!

Anyone in a similar position? I am 31 years old, no other speeding fines etc.

I am with Norwich U Direct, I am 25 2 yrs NCB, clean license and a very good post code. For changing just the backbox they want an extra £145.00 of me!

I thought they should only be charging an extra say 2-4% which would probably tie up to the BHP increase but £145 quid is well over a 12% increase!!!!

What is going on people!!

Try L & V when your policies are due for renewal.

Caution with L&V (same with elephant) - whilst you declare mods and pay for them - the premium is to return the car to manufacturers spec.

PS. I'm with NUD and they wanted 60 quid for a BB

If I'm insuring a modded car and I stuff it up then I want it back as I had not and not having to stump up for the mods again!

Of course the main problem I,ve got is that insurance companies shaft anyone living in London esp. if its not garaged.

Well NUD cocked up with mine, too. I had a BMW328i, and got myself a nice new silver 03 STi on 1st Sept, no mods as yet.

NUD have a mandatory £400 extra excess for Group 20 cars - but their Indian call centre didn't mention it when I rang to change the car over. Not happy when the paperwork came through as I felt it wasn't legal to do that if they hadn't mentioned it on the phone (there was a heap of other errors as well - like they'd missed off the Tracker). So after a number of calls, culminating in calling in the morning and getting the Sheffield call centre instead of India (a tip worth noting!) I wrote to them detailing my issues.

The result? They responded very well, calling me a number of times to check details and update me on progress, and eventually knocked a few quid off the premium to reflect the Tracker, and waived the £400 extra excess until renewal date. Good job too, as after a week and a half I hit a monkjack deer and did £900 in damage.... :-(

Maybe there's a lesson to learn here? Call NUD in the afternoon to get the Indian call centre in the hope of a ****-up in your favour? Call NUD in the morning to get the Sheffield call centre to correct any issues against you? I know that sounds a bit devious, but the other side of me says it's my time they're wasting with this incompetence.
