glad someone else here has even heard of CS !!
each week in the UT thread for wed night session i keep saying why not play CS one day and does anyone else play this ?
so far no reaction at all !!! cant believe it meself - UT is not in the same league as Quake 2/3 let alone CS !
where u usually play and what do you call yourself ? i'll look out 4 u ?
not yet tried the shoe polish ? does it help your score ?
so come on lee, lets GO GO GO

I think, at first the imbalance would be too great for people to get into. In UT and Q3 it's fairly easy to get stuck in. Counterstrike requires people to know the game or indeed what the objectives are first. If you've been playing the Wed UT games you'll know how chaotic the assault games are, with people milling around getting lost etc etc. Counterstrike would be just like this, but all the time.
Of course once you get into it, it's better than aspects of UT/Q3 but the initial curve is quite steep IMHO.

depends if you have played team online games b4.
if you have then its no learning curve at all really.
still, its better than any other online game i've played since Quake.
i often play on servers where people are not really into team play and still treat cs as deathmatch !
the objectives are not exactly rocket science ! only learning curve is learning the maps - same as for UT or Quake !
cmon lee lets get it rocking and get CS up and running. i am sure people will like / prefer it once they have played a few times.
u play neil ?

nah you're joking surely.
Like I say I haven't yet got into CS properly, its not a beginners game like Neil has mentioned (am i right in in thinking its *only* net play so you can't practice on your tod?) but I see its potential.
However visually/aurally its not as slick and I certainly wouldnt put UT below Quake.
Steve, we have a guy on i-chat with his own servers, I'll talk to him about the possibility of setting up a "newbies night" so you boyz can teach us

nope i am not joking lee. no one i know ever rated UT for its map designs or weapons although it looks nice. still so did q3 and its maps / weapons were much better.
so is UT a beginners game then ? maybe thats why i dont like it ? i simply dont enjoy UT as much as i have ever enjoyed Quake / Quake 2 / Quake 3 and all the various mods or CS.
ok lee hope you can sort it out.. GO GO GO
steve
Still i dont see CS as a game newbies cannot play, if you've done at least a little online play you'll be ok quite soon.
although its only online multi player you can gets bots to practice on your own and you can run up a server so you can learn the maps. if you do this then you are not disadvantaged from people who have played a lot.
cheers

You do also have a tutorial that you can go through without connecting up.
I have to add, I used to be GOD at Quakeworld, like league champ stuff.
I suck at CS now
It really is that different, unlike anything I have played.
