After reading all the good reports re quote prices, i thought i'd give them a go.
All was going well, she asked what car i had, i replied Impreza 2000 Turbo. She said fine. Then i thought i'd just mention it was an EU import, emphasizing the fact it was full UK spec.
She then said sorry that doesn't on appear on our list, so we can't quote. I again emphasized it was essentially a UK car, but to no avail.

Has anyone insured an EU import with them? and did you tell them it was one?

Regards

Daz

Gismo,

Not anymore it doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

L&V don't want to know now unless exact match - new directive from the underwriters apparently. Can only hope that next year they have expanded their portfolio of models.

I have a EU import STI8 and I can honestly say I have never had so many problems insuring a car before. Contacted 20+ companies looking for a semi-sensible quote.

I'm 33,full no claims, 3pts and low risk postcode.
Managed to get cover with Elephant in the end, but they still needed confirmation from their underwriters re EU import!!!!

Mine is an EU Import too, and Im with them

When I originally phoned them, and gave them the reg number, they said, Subaru Impreza 1.6 GL Wagon, I said no ' Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000', then they said ' hangon, oh yes you are right'

and quoted me accordingly

Subaru Insured however, after many phone calls with them, catagorically told me a company descision had been made to no longer insure ANY imports, only UK Dealer sourced cars

this is the score on LVictoria imports!!!

After long chats an advisor at LVictoria it seems that they will insure imported vehicles which they currently have listed on their vehicle listings, as long as all spec meet ie make, model doors, fuel, type and transmission all match!! they will not be adding any further imports to their list as some bloke told me!!

this is the latest gossip on the street!!!!
