So whats the best quote anyones had for 25yr old male living in South East (SL6) on an Impreza Turbo?

Looking at the model history for the turbo is confusing - parkers says that all the turbos are group 17 except STi which is 20.. can that be right?

Does anyone have the lowdown on all the different turbo models (newer and classic) and what difference they make to insurance price? Does the age of the car affect the quote much?

TIA for any help...

general rule of thumb:
UK/Euro models
==============
classic turbos are group 17
bug/blob eyes WRX are group 19
STI Type UK are group 20
P1 - group 20

Jap Imports
===========
STis almost certainly group 20
WRX - not sure but I would guess that 20 too

There was a thread a while back showing the groups that cars were. Anyone know where this is?

2 years ago MY97 ppp : £2600
1 year ago MY97 ppp : £1500!
This year quote MY97 ppp : £1380
Swapped to STI8+ppp : £1760 (not a major increase for a car 4 times the price and 60bhp more! (i am now 25)

Rule of thumb:

Group 17+ : 21 at least but expensive till 28!
Group 20 : 25 at least and v. few companies will take u on, 28 min for reasonable quotes.....

I was 25 when got my first scoob MY99 saloon in Jan 2002. I live in your area.

First year was £1100 with Hyperformance - no mods allowed.
This year it is £891 with Greenlight - unlimited mods allowed. They also do trackday insurance at about £50 a day depending on the venue.

I did a couple of online quotes with Elephant and it was cheaper for me to insure a brand new WRX than a 4 year old classic!?!?!

What the ****? How can that be? Do the new ones get nicked less or something?

Edited to sort out speeeling!!

Cheaper up North!! 800 protected no claims with mods and girlfriend insured. Greenlight seem to be the cheapest.
