£707 instead of >£1200, with two fault claims in the last five years for me. They covered all engine and other mods, any mileage, not interested in security. £450 excess and protected NCB. Stunned. Though I was going to be paying double that with all the mods this year!

I will second, and even "third" this thread. They've just charged me an extra £32 for next year's insurance with engine/exhaust/wheel/filter/bodywork/HIDdriving lights mods.

Very good introductory quote but beware any no fault "incidents" as they are costly - £74 extra in my caseand I haven't even claimed agais anyone yet!

I insured my car with them yesterday Ref: "The thread below!" I rang them this morning to see if it affects my premium if i put an induction kit and a performance exhaust on the car and the girl who answered the phone said " No it doesn`t affect your premium Sir and i will add them to your policy now and send you a new schedule out in the post!. I was totally amazed, ive never been called sir b4...

After reading all the support for LV I changed to them this morning after a furious discussion with my original insurer, Priviledge.

Been with Priviledge for two years with the same car. This week after recieving the renewal notice I declared the change of wheels I made on my MY97T UK, swapping the originals for the relatively non-descript 16" RIMSTOCK2000 alloys (but they do look good on a green scoob...). Priviledge responded by jacking my premium up by over 20%, claiming these made the car more nickable??

LV quoted £220 cheaper (this on a £700 premium with Priviledge), but not only that, the excesses are all much less and the policy covers all track time so long as I don't race against a stopwatch or some Cossie, CTR, EVO or Nova, etc!!!!

YEEEEHAAWWWW!

This might make me think twice about modding madness, tho I do despair that the Scoob is going the way of the Cossie, Nova etc ...
not much longer before I'm gonna hafta find a more sophisticated motor.

Thankd for posting this up. I can now mod my car and save dosh. I'm now adding a downpipe and Unichip and still saving money Ok £15 but still cheaper than last year and better cover too. That said Greenlight were pretty good but Liverpool and Victoria seemed excellent. Very helpful and friendly too !

I am absolutely stunned. Earlier this year I had a car stolen, and have had a nightmare getting insurance quotes ever since, despite being 29, living in a low risk area and driving over 10 years. I spotted this thread on here, and rang LV this morning , they were 30% cheaper than the next best option I had, 80% cheaper than the worse quote. Whoever started this thread, if you ever see me at a show, I'll buy you a pint. Honest.

Allan i am pretty sure they do cover your extra mods and i think they will pay you out at current market value if you did ever have to make a claim. The best thing to do is ring them and ask your questions, ive added an exhaust and an induction kit to my policy at no extra cost! p.s make sure they list them in black and white on your policy on the extras part of it if you go ahead with the insurance.

Cool they do cover the cost of the mods but have asked for photographic proof they are fitted which seems very fair.

Looks like they get my money.

Question

Prompted by you guys who are getting cheap quotes I rang LV on the basis that Tesco wanted another £150 for my WR Sport headlights/Prodrive springs and Prodrive backbox.

Tesco were £781 and LV wanted £1321!!!

Since tried Hyperformance and they wanted £800 before loading up for the mods.

I'm 39 with umpteen years protected NCD, no claims etc in what I consider to be a reasonable area!

Looks like Tesco again?!

After reading and hearing about L&V, I just phoned them up.

They won't insure me at all - 23 years old, 6 years no claims, never claimed, no convictions, standard UK 1996 turbo

Bloke said it was age that did it.

I phoned up LV for a quote yesterday on MY99 WRX and was disappointed.
They quoted £1191 for me - 31, no convinctions or points and 8 years no claims.

I don't think I'll be going there!!

Must have been a bad day or area you live in.

I insured recently with what looks like the same details as you and got £480 protected with mods. I do have 3 points and put the wife on the policy.

What mileage did you quote to them?

Just got my quote for the Scoob

MY97
Protected NCD
Unlimited Mileage
Was not even asked about security!
Me + Partner (Me 30 Partner 28)
LINK
VF28
APS FMIC
Induction Kit
AP 4-pots
17" alloys
P1 Suspension
Full Decat Exhaust

All for

£740 with £250XS...........I couldn't believe it as my current insurer wanted £880 this year and that was B4 the LINK and FMIC (would have been around £1200)

L&V definitely gets my vote

They didnt tell me that all mods needed photo evidence and said that all my mods would be covered on a replacement basis - all I had to do was show some form of proof that I had the mod - I would have thought that an invoice would have sufficed

Didnt also realise they did track cover - the description is identical to all other insurance policies I've ever had - e.g. no timed events, etc - so by that all policies would cover you unless there was specific wording in the Privelge ones?

I have a UK MY 98 insured with LV.

When I took out the policy they asked about mods. I said standard although the spolier was changed. Explained it used to be flat boot spoiler and was later changed to the mid/high level version. Also explained that this would have been factory option but was just changed at the dealer at a later date.

This got put down under body kit and bumped the price by around £250 DL/Priv want £370 more!

This has played in the back of my mind for a while so I decided to ask about it again. Told this time that as it was a factory option it was not necessary to declare. Lucky me I have been sent a cheque giving me back £21.xx. Whoopee-do. Seems fair versus £250

Not really sure what to think now.

Need to speak to them about SS bbox and centre. Who knows where that will lead? I presume this is still under 10% power increase and will not affect me unless I specifically want it covered for the worst case replacement in crash etc?

Insurance. Why is it all such a lot of poo poo?
