I am due to pickup a WRX from Belgium in Sept/Oct.

I am trying to arrange fully comp insurance from on the VIN no, I am having trouble getting cover for the driving in Belgium & also on the ferry to the UK.

I was told A Plan could arrange cover however their underwriter will not cover the WRX as it is "too risky" !

I don't want to use a transport company as I want to go over to Belgium to pick it up.

Has anybody gone through this ? If so who insured the car ?

Insured through Endsleigh - picked up car in Holland and insured from moment I drove it.
Did'nt seem to have a problem insuring without number plate either.
I'm sure other companies should do a similar service

This has become very difficult lately - most companies
no longer do it. try Royal/Sun Alliance, they did mine - but
it was a while ago

Another way is to insure the car on the VIN number to say that you have the car & am registering it with DVLA (even though the car is sitting in Belgium). You'll have to do this a week before, so you'll be losing out on a weeks insurance but fully covered when you pick it up.

Then, register the car with DVLA to get a reg number. Make the plates, then tell the isurance you are travelling to Belgium & get a green card.

Then voila,you are covered.

Question

Who was your quote with. Was it Liverpool Victoria??

By the way, I might see you on the ferry as my WRX will be available at that time too.
