FMIC and Direct Line insurance
I'm looking to rebuild the engine in my 98 STI hatch. Not after big power, just forged pistons and cdb conversion. Car is for purely road use, no track days or comp work. The only unusual thing is that I tow a caravan so spend a long time on motorways at higher than normal throttle. Enginetuner suggested I fit FMIC to help keep the charge temperature down and protect the engine. Rang my insurer, Direct Line to ask about this. They will NOT insure a car with an upgraded intercooler.
Looks like I stay with standard.

With the cost involved in the rebuild its probably now better to move to an insurer that will cover modifications like for like if involved in a crash like Adrian flux or keith michaels
