as above.]
im 22 and a student.
when insured last dec, cost £940 (modded). and had 3yrs no claims.
had a prang (on new years eve!!) and caused £1400 damage to peugeot 205. as it was two weeks after re-insuring, ive lost this year
also loose two full years.
so basically, in december ill just have one years no claims.
it wasnt a speed related prang.

i know its a rough guess, but any ideas on the sort of increase?

cheers, ian.

p.s. as from now, am no longer a student, so will have a proper job title by then.
i know were miles off december, but just made me wonder
thanks.

If you assume your NCB was giving you about 33% off I would guess your base premium to be about £1300. Only problem is you have now got a "fault accident" against you, so there may be additional premium loadings put on. Worst case is the Insurance Co will refuse to insure you as an unacceptable risk.

3 years NCB would normally be 50% discount.
1yr 30%
2yr 40%
3yr 50%
4yr 60%
5yr+ 65%-70%

Your base premium would have been £1880. Therefore going to 1yr NCB would mean you pay £1316 + annual hike (10-20%) and a bit for the fault claim. So £1500-1600. It doesn't sound like a huge claim and wasn't speed related and you would have paid an excess on it so I wouldn't expect much of a rise from the accident. It just depends on how they see you age wise.

You should always shop around for your insurance every year because insurers know that most people can't be bothered to and will accept the renewal premium as the going rate. For the last 4 years my renewals have been 20% higher and by shopping around I have reduced my premiums every year as my clean driving record extends.

Hope this helps and doesn't put you off owning a Scoob.
