I've tried direct line, Bell direct, Admiral, Norwich Union, Elephant and AA............
Any ideas of people who give SENSIBLE quotes ?

No company gives sensible quotes - it's one of the downsides of owning a Scooby.
That said, some companies are less expensive than others. I'm with Greenlight, and I've also heard good things (price-wise at least) about Adrian Flux, Tesco and Privilege.
