The factory speakers in your car have tiny magnets on them. When you put aftermarket speakers in the magnets will be larger so when you wind down your window it will hit the magnet and stop the window from going down. I have 5 1/4 speakers in the front , I believe you can also fit 6 1/2 inch in the front but both require you to fit mdf adapters or spacers same with rear.

 

if you buy the adaptors from the USA you can fit most 6.5 comps in the front, and most 5.25 in the rear.

 

they have a 59mm depth, so should fit ok, but how much are they costing you? lots of other good options for similar money that are better value. whats your budget?

 

6.5s would be preferable. Any aftermarket speaker is likely to require a spacer ring. Either by buying plastic ones, making or buying MDF (ebay) or by gutting the standard speakers and using the carcase.

Seal any apertures in the doors with dynamat/flashing tape and/or MDF or ply.

Amp the front speakers at least and fit a decent 2x150 watt amp. Or at least, something better than 2x100.

i have 5 chanel mrv 450 alpine amp wich is rated at 4ohm same as speakers.

im a royal marine so good at getting dirty but not at fitting stuff im led to belive very straight forward.

i have asked alocal company to do it but the want 1200 to fit speakers and amp is that about right or can i easily do my self.

 

I think £1200 is pushing it a bit unless that includes supplying the speakers and cabling up to the amp.

Whatever front speakers you go for will require an amount of work to mount. Plus the wiring from amp to speakers and mounting the crossovers.

Personally, I'd up the size of the front speakers. The holes in the doors will take bigger components and generally, they'll sound better.

Going with Focal, you can fit Polyglass 165VRS in the fronts . You'd need a 10 or 12mm spacer ring to ensure clearance for the window mech on the fronts.

I'd be tempted to bridge the amp and run the fronts off it. Leaving the rears driven by the head unit.

I'm assuming you have actually gone out and listened to the speakers of your choice? If not, how did you choose them? remember that one man's meat.............

I went to a local Halfords with loads of speaker choice, did blind testing with the help of my youngest, and ended up with Sony speakers, front and rear.........I liked the sound, and others have commented on how good it is.

I have 6.5 3-way speakers front and 6x9's 3-way in the rear, both fitted using home-made mdf spacers, not visble once mounted at the front, covered with proper cloth to match the rear shelf at the rear.

Fitting is NOT rocket science, and £1200 quid is a "Senior-Cummin" quote.

 

I think the quoted was for £120.00 surely?. 24 hours work at £50 an hour is £1200. Doesnt take that long my mate did front speakers and wired in amp in about 4 hours and halfs hours and he isnt a professional installer.

 

no he quaoted 1200 as it was a two day job apperently to do and 4 speakers. i was supplying the parts. im currently our in afghanistan so to be honest think they were taking the **** really as i wanted to have it done for when i got back but hey im sure i can bodge my way round it lol

 

I paid £300 for my head unit , £160 for amp , £120 for door speakers , £300 for sub, £30 for cabling and £150 to fit it. Its running 500w rms through the sub and 4 x 50 through the door speakers off the head unit. Thats just over £1000 which puts your £1200 into perspective.

If you cant do it yourself or find someone you know phone around.
