Time to install my single din Sony head unit to see if it improves the sound quality/volume at all. This will be only a temporary measure, when funds allow they will be a full sound system fitted. (what are the standard Impreza speaker sizes front and back? I would guess a small 5 1/2" looking at the panels)
After a bit of Googling these are the only two I can find and they both look sh*te.

Any one else undertook this conversation if so what have you used, be better if there was a silver colour coded one and what wiring harness does the Subaru use? Take it I am going to have to buy an adapter.

Have a look here Wrx Double Din Facia Adaptor? - Subaru Impreza Drivers Club, I went for the full door pocket, cost less than £20 from the main dealer. Not fitted it yet but its a colour match and looks good.
