Soundproofing material - which one?
#1
Not strictly ICE, but I want to try and cut down the boom in my wagon at around 3000-3500rpm from my backbox.
This is only a problem on motorways, sounds lovely elsewhere. I'm thinking of putting some acoustic matting under the boot carpet, any recommendations?
Cheers

Try wopping some brown bread/dynamat directly above the silencer & under the spare wheel (or at least on the silencer side of it). Should help stop the vibwations getting round the rest of the car & causing noises there

Sorry guys but using felt can cause problems
If it ever gets wet it rots and smells and never dries out a bit like blotting paper
Far better to use waterproof materials from the specialists in this market NoiseKiller Acoustics contact them on 0161 643 8070

Stefan,
I bought offcuts, enough to cover under the rear seat, sorry can't remember measurements. It was good quality stuff - about £15 worth. It's easy to cut holes for the seat belts and seat latch. This bit looked really neat when I'd finished.
For the boot I took everything out and laid one piece in to cover the whole area - it looks a bit of a mess, but once you put the carpet back in who's to know? Only place I had to attach it was at the back, I just used some gaffer tape. As I said it's all out of sight.
One other thing I might do is stick some on the hardboard spare wheel cover .
Cheers
