Recommendations for speakers and, to a lesser extent, the headunit, are not much use apart from pointing you at what to LISTEN to. Everyone's ears are different, what sounds great to me is awful to others, and vice-versa.

Get yourself and a partner down to a large branch of Halfords, listen to the speakers on display. If you have an ICE dealer nearby, ask to hear some.

I did the above and ended up with SONY front and rear, since they were what I LIKED, done in a blind listening test

Unless you spend ££££££££ on the headunit and sound deadening etc etc, it's NOT worth paying over the odds for speakers...........after all, there is road noise, exhaust noise etc and how long are you IN the car for?

Get yourself some Infinity Kappas and an amp.

You'll need to make a spacer out of MDF to enable you to open your windows (should be a thread with pics somewhere on here), or try to get slim-fit equivalents.

Had these in my classic, now got a blobeye and this was 1st job I got done

Absolutely awesome. I listen to all sorts, from Tweenies to Rolling Stones................
