John or anyone..still thinking about subs!! Does a band pass need a crossover?? I know a lot of you reccon that I should stick with a sealed cabinet. I remember John you mentioned a Pioneer Band pass box you loved.. I have all the Specs from JL Audio in America. The speakers are 2 x JL8W6'S.

My Pioneer box is very loud for the amount of power it gets, but is cheap tack compared with what you want from the sounds of your install. It is a dual port bandpass which seems to prevent it being a one note wonder and broadens the response a bit. A lot of people shy away as the dimensions are very exacting and the calculations a headache for a dual port. It is 31 litres and weight about 8 kg. It claims 129dB in car off 100WRMS and it sounds like it too, and all off an 8" driver. There is a "Deathbox" in the US which does similar and you can buy the plans. But the audiophile cognoscenti say they are crap but loud.
I have taken the box out the attic and scanned in and retouched the freq response off the side of the box so you can see.

John
Cheers for e-mail. Think I will stay with a sealed cabinet. I just want to eliminate other ideas!!! Last thing I want to do is to start wearing Puffa jackets and fitting blue LED's to W/S washers!!
Got some great plans for my door builds...

If you want to throw cash at your install I would always stick with sealed and go for big power. If anything I am regressing on the ICE front - considering taking out the sub and putting some 6x9 in the back shelf low passed off the 2 channel sub amp to lighten things. I have turned into a boost monster since I was into all this ICE stuff. I'll see. I think the sub is secure enough for tracking the car.

John, How you doing?
I tried the running full range 6x9's with 150,120,100,80hz low pass route and got very poor results. The speakers were JBL.
I did consider buying 6x9 bass speakers/subs but didn't bother in the end.
Just thought i'd tell ya.

Thanks, any other ideas then?
I have some 6x9 in the back of our 406 and they really do the bass thing quite well even compared with some subs, but they have no filter.
Maybe I should just keep the sub- I have saved weight on the exhaust and when I go over 300bhp it won't matter much.
