Do i have a battery problem?
Hi all,
so i installed a new amp and speakers about 2 months ago all alpine gear, they other day it just stopped working and i had no sound from the headunit have tested all the cables and they seem fine even purchased a better headunit and that didnt work so i put a multimeter on the amp and it was drawing 12 volts but when i turned it on it was only drawing 6 does this mean i have a bad battery
Thanks for the help
Rich

Could be a bad connection causing a volts drop. Check all joints in the main feed cable and especially the earth connection, clean it with sandpaper and give the bare metal a thin smear of copper based grease to prevent corrosion. Hope this helps Steve

Right,
found the problem went back through the main feed cable and checked the fuse with the multimeter and thats were i was losing the voltage although the fuse appears ok on visual inspection also realised that i need a 75amp fuse and i only had a 60 amp in which is probably why it let go,
thanks for all the help
