Default Speaker advice

Hi all
After buying a set of audiobahn components for the front doors of my classic ive realised the magnet is too deep to clear the window and makes the door cards buldge out.
Was wondering what speakers you are running up front in your classics??
I am after some components and probably 17cms, want some good volume and clarity, any reccomendations??

Mat

Ive run 3 different type of speakers up front in my classic.

1st pair were Infinity 605cs(no longer available), these fitted without any modification, apart from fitting the tweeters.

2nd set, Genesis Profile 16's mids about 64mm depth, these needed a little modding in the form of 9mm adapter rings made from MR MDF and some nifty work with the dremel you also have to remove the rubber boot from the magnets on the mid bass drivers. They sounded lovely though, well worth the effort.

Latest set CDT 6.2CL mids about 70mm depth, these proved a real problem to fit, even thicker adapter rings and the speaker is very close to the door card, again the rubber boots had to be removed, but these speakers really liven the system up, even after the gennys.

These speakers have all been run on a DSL CL23 amp, 135watts/channel RMS.

Hope this helps a little.

I got the gennys from Car Audio Direct, but they no longer sell them, got them for £119 whilst they were on sale, have a sniff around the net, but DON'T buy them off e-bay as fakes are common place.

The gennys are 165mm diameter, 16.5cm and did NOT drop straight in.

There are very few speakers that will drop straight into the holes, most are too deep and need adaptor rings, are you looking for components (separate mid, tweeter and cross over) or coaxials (one speaker with tweet built in)??

I think these will drop straight in Car Audio Direct - Infinity Reference 6520CS - Speakers , but you will have to fit the tweeters.

These are Coaxials Car Audio Direct - CDT Audio CL-6EX - Speakers
