Question

Does anyone know if the standard Philips unit as fitted to MY99 UK cars can be wired to mute automatically when a mobile phone call is received?

If not, can anyone recommend a head unit replacement with this facility (oh and lets throw in a CD slot rather than tape too)?

Thanks,

Julian.

Experience with the Philips HU is limited as it was only in the car 5 mins and turned on once - it was that bad. I would doubt it has a phone mute. My Kenwood 5080R has one. Current version would be 5090R (CD head unit).

Yep it is possible.

I recently got Vodafone to install a Nokia hands free car kit. They used the following in order to interface to the standard stereo, such that the radio auto mutes on incoming and outgoing calls, and sound is played through the standard speakers.

They also used a dashboard kit which meant no screw holes in the dashboard, this was by- Connoisseur Products Ltd, 0870 8408406.
