Hi,

I'm looking at a JVC KD-SH99 Headunit - it does CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 & controls a CD changer + DVD etc etc etc...Mainly because I've already got a JVC 12 CD changer in the car and the unit's Silver!

www.sounddomain.com sells them for $299 the best UK price I've seen is £350 - has anyone got experience of buying stuff like this via USA ?

Cheers

Chris

Dont forget you will have to pay international shipping on the $299, and then import duty on the $299 + shipping, then 17.5% vat on the $299 + shipping + import duty.....

The tuner will only use odd numbers. 95.9 - 96.1 - 96.3 - 96.5 etc.
It is possibale to alter some h/u's to work properly in the UK though, i've done it b4 with some Kenwood units but still no RDS.

Thanks for all the comments...

I'm pretty sure with this head unit you can set it for whatever region you're in, that fixes the FM reception thing - no idea if it also fixes RDS problems though.

My budget to replace my partly broken existing JVC head unit is approx £200 - I can get a direct replacement for around £150, however if I can get a more powerful and MP3 capable unit for another £100 then I will, any more than that and I'd sooner go for dedicated MP3 unit like the mStation or similar.

I'm waiting for a quote from Hong Kong for the same unit, it's easier for me to get it back from Hong Kong - just a bit further if I need to return it!

Cheers

Chris
