Question

Which is the best MD/tuner headunit I could get for my '95 Impreza for under £200? Going to be using the standard speakers and no amp. I dont really know what I'm talking about, but I'd like it to look nice!
Thanks for your advice.

Sony MD is a good Head Unit and they do a couple of models just under that price which are quite nice. Have a scout around some online sites as they quite often have special deals on too. try:

If you want the best around (to my knowledge from listening tests/magazine reviews) then you could pick up the Kenwood PS971 for 299. It's a bit over your budget, but 3 RCA outputs, built in high and low pass filters, detatchable mask security and, IMHO, the best in-car minidisc reproduction would definitely get my vote.

I had the Kenwood 860 which I upgraded to the PS970. The 971 has better security and display than the 970 and, surprisingly, is one of the only items in kenwood's 2001 range that hasn't been upgraded from 2000. It's that good.

Scoobyster. I bought a Kenwood MD tuner with a six disc multi-play from bass junkies
in June for £249. Its 4 x 45 watts and sounds really nice on the standard speakers. Also if you buy a wiring harness this converts your Kenwood to Subaru wiring so it literelly just plugs in. Costs a tenner for this but you may not need it as my MY97 never. I know its a bit more expensive than your budget but IMHO its really good value.

Regards Jason.

Thumbs up

Hi,

This one is probably beyond your budget
but the Sony MDX 800-REC allows you to record while driving and even has a timer to
save that favourite tune once you reach your destination and have to leave your car .

Cheers

Cool

Thanks for your input. Where are the best places to buy such things from online? The Panasonic CQ MR 303 has caught my eye, any opinions on this? Thanks again.

Has anyone got any experience of the Kenwood MD-673R MiniDisc Headunit ?

In Car Discount have the MD/CD Changer package (MD-6347R) on offer for £259.95 (inc vat).

Good value ?
