Have you got an amp already or are you looking for a powered sub?
I have one of these under my seat and it works quite well - no match for a boot mounted sub and amp but that wasn't an option for me.

Yes it's good, it adds bass below the level my front components (amped) go to, but don't expect it to be as good as a boot mounted amp and sub. A lot easier to install, though you will have to connect it directly to your battery.
I run it from RCA's from my Alpine headunit, but it comes with high level speaker connection cables too, so running it from a headunit without amp outputs should be fine. I'm guessing you have the standard Subaru one?

IMHO the best under seat SW are the Focal Bus20 & Bus25 http://www.focal.tm.fr/catalogue-doc...files/1428.pdf

I've got the Alpine SWD 1600 - works sweet for my wagon, power is direct from the abttery and feeds from RCA's on the head unit. Quite simple set up once you get the power lead in through the firewall! Nice sound IMHO and well worth it over standard speakers.
I've got a calssic and even this small one restricts my seats forward movement to about 50% - due to he way the 'bum' of the seat dips lower than the front, so the 'bum' hits the sub when the seat is pulled forward. Its not an issue for me as its easily removed on the odd occasion this is an issue, but somehting to bear in mind when choosing, depending on your car and load preference.
All the best ,whatever one you choose you'll be thankful for doing it.
