Default Finally managed to create my In Car PC

Just thought id share my latest mod. Its not installed yet, but its up and running pretty much as i want it to.

Bought one of these bad boys, 7" linitx vga touch screen.

Then found some customisable software for the front end, free too, lol. This pic is from testing on the laptop.

After that, found some *ahem* free sat nav program and added it to the Front End.

Spec:-

7" Linitx vga lcd touchscreen
CD/DVD/MP3/MP4/pretty much anything else playback
Bluetooth
Wifi internet
160gb hdd for songs/music vids/movies/pictures, etc.
Sat Nav

Running from a spare laptop running Vista.

And finally, a little video of how it all comes together.

YouTube - Digital Dash 5.0 In Car PC Computer Touchscreen

What you reckon?

No problem, an even better idea would be to visit the guys at digital-car.co.uk forums :: The UK Car PC Community

Nice setup you got there, I have started getting all the bits together for a pc install. I plan to run a in dash motorised screen which will allow me to run an alpine headunit alongside the screen. Got to do some research now on how to wire the pc sound to the car speakers.

Thumbs up for a top install

Hopefully this should arrive tomorrow to power the laptop im using in the install...

120W Laptop Car Adaptor

• For the more power-hungry laptop user and even the most demanding machines!
• Stabilised output, low ripple and low interference
• Adjustable output voltage (DC15,16,18,19,20,22 and 24V)
• Output: 6A max, 5A on DC22 and 24V
• Includes 8 interchangeable power plugs
• 15A fuse for overload protection

The wide range of DC outputs available, together with the high current output and extensive range of power tips should mean this adaptor will work with most laptops on the market. The lead from the cigarette lighter socket to the adaptor is approximately 25cm in length, whilst the lead from the adaptor to the laptop measures approximately 1.8 metres.
