Default Radio Reception Problems

Hi

I have just installed a double din dvd head unit in my04 wrx, everything works fine apart from the radio,i can not get a reception through the radio.I put my original head unit back in to see if the aerial was ok and managed to get all radio channels straight away.
The new unit was purchased from ebay (EONON 838).
Do i need to buy a booster/new aerial for the unit to pick up a good reception?
Please could anyone advise me with this.

Thanks:

double din radio? it is probably from a jap spec car which run on different frequencies to the UK, you can get a little black box to fix it if this is the case.
google the model number and see if it was offered in the uk.

Did you connect the power antenna wire?
Blue wire on the car harness to the power ant wire on the Head unit.

thankyou for your reply

as far as the radio frequeny it has a range from 87.5 - 108.0

and the aerial wire from the car antenna is plugged straight into the back of the head unit but i have not connect the blue wire to anything,i thought this was for a power aerial so i haven't connected it to anything.
If i have to connect this , what do i connect it to and what is the blackbox which was mentioned.

thanks again

Your car has an aerial amplifier as the aerial is in the rear screen. I guess this now isn't getting power hence no reception. If you do a search you'll find the info about getting power to it.

Connect the blue wire to the power antenna wire on the head unit.

thankyou all

sorted now, managed to get all radio stations

bye the way , is there any better way of getting a good tv signal, the antenna that came with the unit dosn't pick up any channels.

the unit also has bluetooth on which can be used as a hands free for the phone,it seems to work fine ,is it possible to attach an external mic so it can be placed in a better position

thanks

Default How did you get the radio working.

I am just about to buy one of these off ebay and wandered how you got it working and what else you have found out about it.

Hi
All i did was connect the blue wire (labeled power antenna) on the dvd unit to the wire (labeled power antenna) on the wiring loom from the car for the stereo.i then managed to get all the radio stations.
I did have to buy a Harness Adaptor to convert from the subaru connector to the iso connector on the dvd unit which was about £9
for the installation, i had to trim round the stereo facia about 5mm all the way round for the unit to fit,i did this with a dremel. It now fits bang on.
I haven't managed to get a tv station though but that may be the area that i live (not a good reception)The dvd picture is very good, the bluetooth connected to my phone also works pretty well although you could probably do with an external mic closer to you but again its not to bad.
hope this helps
