Default Classic speaker replacement questions

i have a 94 import wrx saloon and i need to replace all of the factory speakers. has anyone fitted kenwood, jvc, or pioneer speakers? also which speaker adaptor ring allows me to put in bigger speakers and are they needed for the rear shelf? basically i just want a straight forward install, my goal here is just to replace the factory speakers and add a sub later for bass. if you know of any speakers that are a direct fit please let me know what brand/model speaker and where it went, i.e. front or rear.
