New stuff arriving today...
I've bought the following bits to put into my car...
Infinity Reference 6010cs components (for the front)
Infinity Reference 5010cs components (for the rear)
Infinity Reference 475a 4x75w amp
Infinity Basslink 10" active sub
Hopefully this lot should improve the sound quality a bit over the standard speakers
I currently have a JVC KDSH99R headunit (4x50w) - do you think I should replace this as well? (I think) It has all of the outputs required and is MP3/iPod compatible already.
I was thinking to put the sub under the passenger seat - has anyone already done this? how does the sound compare to putting it in the boot?
Will I need anything else apart from decent speaker and power cables?
Cheers
Steve

The head unit should be fine mate and last on the list of upgrades.
You may want to invest in some decent sound deadening to stop the rattles (apply it to the door's behind the speakers and on the inner door skins)
Dont forget to find a decent earthing point for the amplifier and a good RCA cable from the head unit to the amp.
Good luck and keep us posted

Right, I finally got this lot installed and the sound quality is great
Didn't use the 5010cs in the rear - instead moved the existing front speakers into the rear.
The amp is bridged and just powering the fronts with the head powering the rears.
The front doors were completely covered in noise killer and now also have a nice thud when you close them
When the speakers from the rear doors were removed one of them had seized up they were both prompty chucked in the bin!
I just need to fine tune everything now to get the sound spot on
