Default 1997 Fiesta stereo question

I can't find the code for the stereo anywhere. I have been advised that I need to get the stereo out to get the number from the back to track down the code. Anyone know how to get the stereo out. There are four square holes at the front but no obvious screws. Also Ford stealer charges to track down stereo code. Can I get it for free online somewhere? Ta!

Ford's stereo removal tools can be made from chopping up a wire coat hanger.
Chop about a 7 inch length and bend it into a U shape, put each end of it in the two holes, one U shape for each side, and pull them outwards as you pull the stereo to you.
Search online for the code software, if someone's not allready written it on top of the unit. It will only find the original factory code, so if its been changed, it won't work.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I've tried both methods but still can't get the bugger out. The nails stay in the holes a bit better and I have been wearing oven gloves to get a good purchase to pull as hard as poss. The unit wobbles a bit but won't shift. Do you have to get the wire/nails right in to disconnect something at the back as I'm shoving them in as far as I can. Any more tips? Ta.

Just push the nails in about inch and a half. Push the nails outwards (towards the doors) and pull

And as for getting it out,if your using nails it'll be a bit fiddly.you'll have to push all the nails outwards whilst pulling gently at the same time.Best off going to dealer, they'll have proper removal tools and will take a matter of seconds.
