Default Amp mounting

Right ive bought myself all the bits i need (eventually) and have half the system in and running.

Im going to be putting one of the amps under the passenger seat, but how should i secure it?

I dont really want to screw it into the car, dont think cable ties would hold it steady enough, and velcro wont be strong enough.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Also, power distribution blocks. Where generally should you put them? Close to the battery? Before the fuse? Anywhere?

hi. realy you want to put the amp where theres lots of free space (air) as they get really hot and need goo ventilation. if they get to hot they start cutting out. i'd recomend putting your amp in the boot mate and running the wires from there. as for power blocks.. they can be in the boot too.. take it you mean the gold plated blocks that split the power lead into two power leads.. hope this helps..

Yeah thanks for this.

At the moment im playing with the idea of having it under the seat, ill leave it like that for a bit and see how hot it gets etc etc.
Trouble with the boot is that i'd have to make an enclosure or something to keep them protected, and i dont have any of the tools!

This maybe of help, my first post!!

Subaru in the USA sell an OE bass box that goes under the front passenger seat.

They have clips that fasten under the bolts securing the front seat in place. It requires you to undo the bolts a few turns and slip the metal foot under the bolt then it cranks back down again. I am sure you could get some metal brackets from your local B&Q and cut them about to fasten under the bolt heads. (2 or 4 of the seat mounting bolts depending how secure it is) Then maybe a piece of MDF positioned in the middle of the seat and fastened down by the metal brackets. Amp on the MDF Board nice and secure, out of site too.

I am going to use this technique for a CarPC I am 75% of the way through. I will need one under each seat, one for an Amp and the other for the PC.

My bum will be kept nice and warm; my heated Seats will be redundant in my 2003 WRX SL Wagon. Nice boot but I have to carry things around, which is why I have investigated under seat placement.
