Default Stereo replacement & Speakers MY99 wagon

Hi,
Just bought this and obviously the previous owner has put back in the standard phillips stereo.

The speakers are distorting and to be frank sounds useless! Possibly badly rewired.

So, I know 13cm ones can be fitted in the front using spacers - what about the rear?

Also can any other head unit connect up to the phillips changer under the passenger seat?

thanks
Paul

Just bought a pair of 13cm rear kenwood 1360s and 1690ie 16cm fronts. I'll let you know how I get on fitting these.

Also after a head unit too!

I found it cheaper to buy a decent headunit AND CD changer package, rather than the dedicated Philps CD changer for my classic. I wonder if you might find the same, ie: a package of YOUR choice, rather than being stuck with one that will operate the Philips CD? Not a Philips fan, anyway

Anyhow, once I had the headunit in place, I went to Hell Frauds and did blind testing of their range of speakers, helped by my youngest lad, who was 14 at the time, and relished the chance to "play"

I then bought Sony 16.5cm for the front, and Sony 6x9's for the rear. Off the internet Half Halfords prices

Both are fitted courtesy of home made spacers out of 18mm mdf, using the Sony templates. Those in the back are covered with carpet to match the rear shelf, from an ICE dealer, and those in the front are invisible, but were WELL painted against damp
