Hi mate,I've got a MY99 V5 type r limited,It's a total pain to fit rear speakers because the holes in the steel shelf are neither round nor oval,I ended up fitting full range 130mm speakers in to the shelf only and an infinity powered sub in the boot.It still required the removal of the rear seats, the rear side panels and roof trim just to get the shelf out(you have to be really careful when pulling the shelf out because it's pop studded to the metal shelf),luckily the speaker wiring is conected so that's one good thing.
if you can afford it get somone else to do it,it's less hassle.Or if your'e doing it yourself take your time and don't rush it.

Do you have the model number for the Sony's? I own a MY00 UK car and am looking to replace the back speakers.

virtually any 6x9's will do the job. I had a nice set of Alpines in my old Scoob, which sounded very nice. (and nearly blew the rear window out)
You'll undoubtedly need some spacers, as they wont fit flush. (they fit from below) You can make your own and some speakers come with a template on the box.
I used several sheets of cardboard for mine, which sounds odd, but you'll find that becuase the shelf isn't entirely flat, it's good to have some flexibility in the spacer so that you can get a nice snug fit to the shelf.
