Default Pioneer AVIC-X1R

Just purchased this HU and hope to fit it next weekend.

Has anyone fitted one of these before and if so do you have any advise fitting tips etc..

I have replaced the original HU already so know my way around that part but I am a bit concerned with this speed pulse connection.

Advise much appreciated.

Cheers

Dont worry about the speed pulse, its for the ***** (seam to be a popular saying on these forums!) Its nice to have but not really needed. The Avic will work just fine with out it. If you do want to connect it you need to put it to the pulsing side of an injector.

Just remember to mount the hide away box the right way round in a place where it will NOT be subject to excess vibration.

Cheers

I was one of those **** people who had to connect the speed connector! Found a great document on the Apexi website that told me exactly what wire to connect to.

Can send you the document if you want. If not then it is here:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/pdfWiring/3.pdf

Like said though it doesn't really mean much but if everything has to be just so then it is dead easy to do.

Freaked me out when I first looked at it. Promised I wouldn't do it but is actually relatively easy.

Good luck!

It would look like it. The page after that shows diagrams of the ECU outputs so I would check the pictures against your ECU and you shouldn't go wrong.

Good luck!

Connecting to an injector will give you an RPM related pulse not a speed pulse

Wink

Theres a whole forum dedicated to the Pioneer Avic X1 that answers just about any question you can think of. You can post on there too

Look here www.avicx1forums.com

Ive got the X1 and its linked to the Pulse as this determines the speed x position x info to the screen. Pretty important to be accurate if you do nt want to go flying past a crucial turning or M'way exit

Fanatastic piece of technology

Sorry your right I was thinking of a clifford remote start for some reason. Speed pulse comes from ECU and can also be founs behind the clocks!

Managed to find the SP at the ECU. Was very easy with the help of the Apexi guide and when I saw the wire was Green/Yellow I felt less concerned.

Anyway got it all fitted in 1.5hrs and it works a dream. Still learning all the functionality but very impressed so far.

Cheers for all your advise etc..
