would these fit MY01 or will i need to use some mdf spacers

you'll need spacers.

You can either make your own MDF ones or there is somewhere that sells them for about £8 (forgot link sorry!). Personally I'm getting a fitting kit from Halfords for £13...

MDF will work better than plastic. The plastic isn't as mechanically inert...

Agreed. The plastic Corsa spacers are nasty; I bought some and threw them away.
My 6000cs speakers fitted very nicely into the original mounts (which are much heavier and of higher quality than the Corsa ones). Unless you have a depth issue I would imagine that the 6502s would be ok in them too.
If not definitely use MDF.
