Question Speaker sizes

What size are the speakers in MY96 WRX (saloon). I beliece the fronts are 16.5cm, correct?
Will 6x9's go in the back, and is it just a case of cutting the metal to the right size.
Hoping to fit them later so a swift response would be appreciated.

No, don't cut the metal for the rears, mount them from underneath leaving the existing grills in place.
