....ive just bought a Pioneer car sterio and have got my old JBLs 6x9s on the rear shelf but they are sounding a bit worn out, what would be the best speakers, not pioneer ones though:P
its a multi CD and has digital radio, and lots of pretty lights and dolphin graffics on the screen, cost £400
i havnt posted this in the ICE forum cos its too technical for me
suggestions please

i went for 6" hifonics co-axis run by a kicker 282 watts RMS amp
the speakers are 90 watts each and the amp gain is turned to 6 out of 10,when the speakers are 'run in' then ill probably turn the amp to around 7.5
very powerfull but alot depends on what you have up front , i have kenwood 6.5" components run by a 2x200 watt kenwood amp but the backs are louder than the fronts so i may swap the amps around . . . .
OR just ignore the rear speakers and go for 2x12" subs run off a powerfull amp
oh,and a ton of sound deadening.

think u ment 17cm's not 17" inches thats big even for a sub 17cms i think will need some sort of spacer 15cm's will drop right in
can you wire in a car head unit if you can i cant see a reason y u would'nt be able to sort out a few componants door panels ar'nt that hard to get off. take time look for all screws mostly held on with poppers
will be doing the same job in mine when i get a chance
Pioneer head with lots of pretty lights and dolphin graffics on the screen, cost £400
is that theDEH-P8600MP (the one i have) or one very similar, if it is there is a lot of scope for set up
if you need any advice im at most E.S.C. meets

yep thats the head unit i got its just been reduced to £199
i bought it abot 10 days ago do you think they will take it back and give me a refund so i can buy it back for half price, ive got the reciept
got the 6x9s infinity speakers today for half price but they wont sit in the hole properly and the screw hole dont line up.is it A BIT DRASTIC TO CUT THE METAL SHELF TO MAKE THEM FIT??
and i did mean 17 cms
i was going to get the pioneer 6x9s they were half price as well but the halfrauds bloke said the infinity were a bit better. do yo think there is a chance that the pioneer would have fitted a bit better
as for the door component speakers, a few snetters have said its not easy getting the door panels on again

didnt adding a false shelf make it harder to screw the speakers in, or could you fix the speakers in to it first then add the false shelf

fix speakers into ply spacers screw down to make full holes take them back out again drop spacer and speeker in hole in rear deck get them centred remove loose speaker clamp ply spacer drill and screw from underside drop speaker back in locate holes use dumpy screw driver drive screws back in to hole you made earlyer (that bit sounded blue peter)
ply wood spacer was elipse shaped not the hole shelf i used the card board template for markin out to shape and make them then shaped them with a jack plane
i am a carpenter so this was not a prob
can i make any for anyone lol...

i have been soooo clever
because the speakers didnt fit into the metal holes in the shelf i used the old mounts of my JBL's and turned them upside down over the hloes then placed the new infinity mounts over the top then put the speakers in and da daaaaaaaaaaaa, lovely and neat and working perfectly
i should patent this
the only problem is the covers wont go on 'cos the glass is too near one corner of the speaker, so i am thinking i might be able to cut a tiny bit of the mesh from one corner
must say it looks really profesional
took about half hour
