Default Securing sub - best method ??

Whats the best mthod of securing this sub
http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...oducts_id+1538
Into the boot of my car at the back of the rear seats ?
Can't drill the boot as petrol tanks is below.
Tried sticking a piece of MDF to floor of boot with heavy duty velcro and no nail glue but came loose.

Looked in B&Q for some adjustable legs (to brace mdf on floor against roof of boot) but no luck - at a loss of how to fix it now- Any ideas ?

not sure if all imprezas have this, but my P1 has a metal reinforment bar going across the the car. its hidden between the rear seats and th lining you see in the boot... is there anyway (if your car has this) to strap it onto that???

There's supports behind the trim panels that you could strap the sub onto. Also, the tank isn't below all of the floor, only the front... But you're absolutely right to be a bit cautious!

Tahnks for the replies
The false foor is a possibilty but would be a pain if got a punture.
Unfortunely the amp needs to be screwed to something - did have a look at the strap option to various parts of the car.

Another thought would be to get 4 bolts welded to the floor of the boot, bolt a piece of mdf to that and then the amp attached to the poice of wood ?

Is this possibe - good /bad idea ?

Cheers

I'm having this issue at the moment myself, I was thinking about getting a couple of pieces of mdf and cutting them so that they sit side by side and are shaped to the floor of the boot, if you know what I mean? Basically putting a new floor down, putting the carpet down on top and screwing the sub and amp to it. However, if there is a lighter way to do it that would be a plus!

A false floor is a pain in the event of a puncture, yes... That's why I ended up making a hinged false floor.

How about making some sort of bracing for it to hold it in place rigid against the walls of the boot - like a false floor, but a lattice instead of solid lump?

If you cut a piece of MDF to fit under the lining of the back seats you can then screw into the mdf. All you have to do is undo the plastic strip at the bottom of the seats and push the mdf up between the seat and the carpet. Make it as tigh a fit as possible and it won't move!!

I just bought a disk changer for my birds mini

why not do a similar idea to this

it comes with 2 small plates which go under the carpet, you then screw the changer into the top side of the carpet into the plates.

this way are only making 4 holes in the carpet and you are not having to drill into the car ?

...because the carpet won't secure a sub - the weight of the sub will just drag it around

WHO CARES ABOUT PUNCTURES?? lol maybe its just me, but i refuse to ever change a wheel.. i got 2 bottles (yeahs i know its crap) tire wield.. and alot of faith!

false floor for best results .. mean it would look supa nice too
straps if u just want to stop it from banging about..

isnt much else u can do, my last sub box smashed the thin wood in the boot after some bouncing around. and ripped out the tiny brackets i tried to secure it with..
