Which way do you have your sub box pointing in the boot?
Hey folks,
I've just picked up my Focal SB27V2 Polyglass sub (10inch pre-boxed) and was wondering what was the best direction to place it in the boot or is it personal preference. I have a MY04 STI.
Thanks.

I have mine sitting with the speaker pointing out towards the boot lid. I was told it makes very little difference to the sound whichever way it goes, so I put it that way for cosmetic reasons. I didn't want a load of wiring showing when you open the boot.

Personal preference. Experiment!
I have two Kicker Tubes in each corner with the sub pointing at the seats and the ports at the boot lid (currently the ports are plugged though for extra low-end response). With the ports plugged, positioning doesn't make that much difference. But with them open they can be very poistioning dependent (boundry loading effect or somthing like that )
They also run reverse-phase (+ve and -ve swapped round) to the rest of the install, as it seems to sound better. Might be because they are wired backwards internally (never checked), but phasing is certainly something to try along with poistioning.
Also worth noting that the system can sound different when on the move to when its stationary with the engine off. But that can be tweeked at the amp/crossover/head unit end
