ICE advice required
Folowing a rear end collision, my CD changer has decided to pop its clogs.
This has spurred me into changing the stereo in the whole car.
so...
I have an 03 WRX, currently with a Kenwood MASK head unit and standard everything else.
What do other forum users recommend I should do to improve the sound quality and available volume. (bear in mind that this is a company car, so I cannot hack panels about etc)
I had thought of keeping my head unit, getting a new changer, replacing all the door speakers with high quality (infinity??) component sets and running the lot through a boot mounted amp.
Any other suggestions / advice would be gratefully received.

Sounds pretty good to me, your ideas are fine. Get a four channel amp so you can run front and rears from one amp, put it in the boot or under passenger/drivers seat. Replace ALL the OEM speakers as there crap, I've got infinty's in my classic's doors, they do sound very crisp and clear, they are amped. Keep your old H/U and get another changer for it,plenty on e-bay but beware of rip offs, did the crash kill the other one???
Have you considered an small active sub in the boot? There some decent ones around and they don't involve alot of messing around with on the installation side,it will add that extra punch to your music, have a look on car audio directs web site for active subs.

Replace the fronts and amp 'em for sure. Next biggest change will be a small, medium, large or oh my god sub in the boot running off an amp... Good advice from BigRed as always too

Thanks guys, that's made my mind up, my head unit only has one pair of amp pre-outs, how does that affect running both an amplified sub and an amp for the speakers?

Just split the RCA output into 2 with an adaptor, you can get these from Maplin ETC See link below
