I have a Sony 10 disc changer in the car can I swap it for something that will read Mp3's on DVD or CD discs

Yes, Sony themselves do two.

You SHOULD also have the option of a SECOND changer, controlled by the same headunit, if it's Sony. Alls you need is a source selector, Sony again, about £30.
