Removing HU in MY05 WRX

Have managed it but my bloody Blaupunct won't fit in the slot in the scoob's fascia. I don't believe it! I thought all head units were the same width i.e. 18 cm but the bloody scoob's fascia is only 17 cm wide.
Can someone check to see if it's the same in older models.
One pissed off scoob owner.

Well, after several hours of huffing and puffing I've finally got the hu in: had to take off the black plastic surround on the front and had great difficulty attaching the two metal brackets from the scoob's original hu.
Have taken photos of the removal of the original hu so will post these in a new thread so that other people won't have the same hassle I had.
