Request - Origin install info
Got one coming and I know the install is going to be beyond me.
Can someone give me a idiots guide to wiring it up in an MY00 - although I'm undecided on whether to have it down by ashtray or on top of dash for better visibility.
cheers.

it's in now - couldn't beleive how simple it was - hardest part is figuring out where to hide the wires!
Ray - good tip here for you mate (You have a classic don't you?)
At bottom left in passenger footwell there's a plastic cover that forms a little hidden cubby hole behind it - I found this to be ideal for housing the excess cabling. After plugging in the *** lighter power supply and base station and feeding through the centre console, you just have to hide the wires behind the glove box with some tape. The antenna and detector wires can go down the side straight into the cubby hole - open passenger door and you'll see a popper in the side of the dash undo that and a screw from the glovebox and you feed the wires through nicely. The wire from the detector fits nicely into the roof lining along edge of windscreen. Only thing is at the moment there's a bit of a squeak I need to investigate.
Thanks for the offer Jason - I was expecting it being a lot harder than it was, didn't realise you only had to plug it into lighter, thought there was going to be allsorts of wire related shenanigans. Will probably need a bit of help when I get round to buying a knock-link though. (hint hint)

the antenna pics were crap. have placed in on dash at front, next to windscreen heater vent. The pics I took were too dark in the car and too bright outside looking through glass.
Install manual says to give it at least 3 ft from main unit but I've seen others have stuck it in same place (mainly those with Wagon's) I intend to put it on rear shelf at a later date, but I'm planning a mod in that area so want to do that first (even though It won't affect the antenna).
Antenna and detector run down side of dash thats covered when the door is shut - need to tidy it slightly though by running wire inside the plastic trim that covers the A pillar (?)

My next question was gonna be. "How did you get the cables up to the dash?"
I take it you ran the cable up along the side by the door then across the dash between the glass and dash to the centre.

Not quite Ray.
From the cubby hole, the cables run up inside the dash next to the glovebox and come out in the corner by the A pillar.
Will do some pics as it will be easier to explain.
