ok guys, heres my plan. im lookin at summin like the JL Audio 300/4 amp to be running four speakers each running at the 75w RMS that the amp tops out at...

my question is, what gague do you guys reckon i should use for the power and grounding of the amp.

im intending also to run QED 25th Silver Anniversary wiring thru the car for the speakers and am stuggling to find a reasonable phono cable that stretches 5m.... they all look to be 1m long.

any suggestions?

Hi Jag,

I've run QED silver anniversary in my car; it's great for clear treble, but I'd be tempted to use another cable for bass signals - tho that's just maybe down to me running out . It's a complete sod to terminate nicely tho

For interconnects, I'd go for a good brand and leave it at that. I've actually done blind tests (with the wife thinking I'm a complete knobend whilst swapping cables randomly) and it turned out that Phoenix Gold Zeropoint stuff was what I consistently preferred. Your mileage may well vary.

Cheers,
Nick.

thanks guys. i've found a supplier of QED Quenx 2 who can strech the cable to 5m and its very well priced.

i love the QED silver range, i use thru my house too... but you reckon the bass imaging could be better? im not intending on adding a sub to it straight away so i would need a solid mid coming thru... hmmmm, i'll have a look at whaat else is on the market.

No, I'm saying I don't know 'cos I ran out and was too tight to buy more - I'm using Phoenix Gold Zeropoint "pipe"-style stuff for the midbass and that works well.

You won't want to use the silver anniversary if your tweeters are very bright, as it'll make the problem worse, but they do have to my ears a lovely "open" sound.
