whilst the 'text encoded' cd feature is very cool and well impressive, there aren't a great deal of CD's around that are encoded. In fact, just three from my collection are; Evanescence, SOAD and something else that I can't remember!

Is there any way that you can get the text to appear via home made (PC) CD's??? I had hoped that the track names etc from Windows Media Player would be carried over, but no such luck!

Anybody got any suggestions?

Yeah, I use NERO to make CD compilations, and I get CD text on My Alpine IVX-C806. I cant get it to give album title though. Having said that,I may be doing something wrong as I haven't studied nero software in depth.

My Pioneer displays the track names of MP3's and WMA's from Windows Media Player, but you ned to ensure you are ripping them correctly in the first place with the ID3 tags in place.

I'm surprised that your text display isn't working. What format are you ripping to - WMA or MP3?

Does the instructions for the headunit tell you what format tags it will recognise?

....or are we talking about just plain CD Audio files as opposed to compressed files?

We're talking about audio CDs, not MP3 or WMA...

at the risk of sounding like a complete amateur what's 'nero'? I presume it's a bit like Windows media player?

Nero is a bit of software that allows you to write CDs. It comes with quite a few CD writers.
