Just rewired my sub so that it is a 1 ohm load, the sub is a single rockford 2215 15" with 2 ohm voice coils (DVC) , it is on a Viper d600.1 amp but the amp keeps shutting down when the volume is up, I thought these amps where supposed to be 1 ohm stable.
Am i putting to much power through this sub, is that why the amp keeps quitting? Or has the amp gone dodgy?
I running the sub on just one of the v/c's at the mo, i know that i should'nt , but it runs with no problems that way. I've tried the sub set at four ohm but it seems to lack power

Any thought on this please

If i'm right the 2215 is 1000w RMS!
My pheonix gold amp (500w rms) was doing the same thing when i tried to power my 2212 subs (500w rms)
I upgraded my battery and used a power cap, that seemed to work for a bit until my amp fried.
I was told that my subs require a lot of power to drive them.
I suspect you would need a much more powerfull amp like the viper 1200.1 or RF 1000bd

Yes your amp should power it. I would ask the installer to re-wire the system it may cure it. Or otherwise get the amp checked.

rewired the install myself yesterday, took me all day mate

Do you think that my power cables are too long from my dist block, there around 1 meter each, there is also a kenwood kac923 amp runnig off the same dist block, that is closer than the viper amp ,maybe only 150mm cable, if i swap the amps around do you think this will cure the problem? I'm running both amps on 4 AWG cable and the earth is the same, power cap, split charge system etc.

Many thanks for any help
