Thumbs up

Last week I fitted my Pioneer headunit (cant remember the exact model at present but it was the top of the range OEL one with all the bells and whistles about a year ago)and 12 disc changer.

I also purchased Infinity 60.5CS and mounted them in the front doors (using Chiark's guide!) Sound quality is great but as far as volume and bass go, it's a bit boring. I am now looking at going for a 12" sub box and an amp. The amp will also need to power the front speakers and I know they can handle a lot more.

What works people? Also where to mount the amp as the rear of the seats are not solid like my last car? Lastly I negated to check when fitting the speakers is the front door wiring pin connected (hope not!) or cables through the rubber tube?

Thanks in advance

can't help too much on the mounting - mines screwed down on a carpeted mdf board to the back of the rear seats in my my98 - have a look at the sides of the boot to see if you can fix a mounting board, or do a false floor maybe. As far as amps goes, you need two channels for the front and one for the rear, so either have

- 4 channel amp, with two bridged for the sub
- 2 2 channel amps and bridge one for the sub
- 2 channel amp plus monoblock for sub

cheers

Thanks for that, any recomendations on make/model of amp and sub?

I was thinking £300-£350 for the both, or is that to little?

not at all, especialy if you go for secondhand stuff. I tend to buy head units and fronts speakers new, and the sub and amp from loot/scoobynet/cad - you'll be able to pick up a jlw3/6 and a 4 channel phoenix gold for that easily, look for the zx series, or qx (zx is far better) or get a genesis 4 channel and a jl.. loads of combinations. JL subs i reckon are the best for sq and volume - all round good sub - just check the rms ratings as the w0 series is a bit low (125wrms) whereas the w6 is 300+.

cheers
