I am after a new Monoblock amp to power my Rockford 2115 DVC (2x2OHM) sub, can an of you chaps recommend a decent amp .I have a £250 budget, I have seen a Kenwood KAC 8151D(£199 car audio direct) mono amp 400w RMS into 2 ohm and it is 1 ohms stable as well with a remote bass boost thingy, is this amp any good or is there better avaliable for the same price? I have a kenwood H/U 8080r so it will fit in well with my current set up.

Man,I hate this 'cross-tha-pond crap...
I'll need to dig up a link for you...but you can get a USAcoustics 1000D for $195 here...even including shipping,it's well worth it.A cool 1000 watts on tap...I've been running a USX1000F for about 4 years or so now...very nice and reliable for the money.

Ignore brands of amps matching head unit - it makes no difference whatsoever. In the case of Kenwood though, there's a "bass boost" connection that allows you to control the amp's bass EQ from the HU, assuming this amp has it
Look in second hand on www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb
I've used Kenwood amps in the past, and you can do a lot worse.
On the subject of impedance, my own preference would be to wire the subs to show a 4 ohm load and have an amp which can chuck a healthy amount into that, rather than using 2 ohm. (Saying that, I'm running a 1 ohm mono load for subs)
I have just sold a rockford 200ix which dumps 502W into 4 ohm. That would have been cracking
Nick.

Ordered the Viper 600.1d (seems to be rated well on other sites) from car audio direct, hope this does the job OK, chucks out 600w RMS into 1 ohm, 400 w RMS into 2 ohm and 275 w RMS into 4 ohm. The amp also has a remote bass boost that you fit to your dash ETC
Hope i've made the correct choice!!!!!!!!!!
