Question

Do I need a 2 or 4 channel Amp ?. I have fitted Kenwood KFC1777 front and rear and would like to consider fitting an amplifier, does a 2 channel unit just feed two speakers L & R?. so for L & R front and rear I would need a 4 channel unit?.

Depends on how you like your music???

If you run the rears from the head unit and the fronts fromm a amp this will work well. A good "front" sounding system only neads a very small amount of rear sound to help lift the stage.

I would buy a 2 channel.

But uf you get a 4 channel you could run a sub from the other channels. 1 x amp can work everything!!
